Special characters 3 and 4 are used in conjunction with the ESCDE bit of COR3 to detect
characters in the receive data stream and to generate receive special character interrupts.
NOTES:
1. Special characters 3 and 4 are not stripped from the data stream if Flow Control Transparency
(FCT) mode is enabled.
