UNCTION
The DC/DC converter converts the voltage from a single
primary cell (0.9 to 1.6 V) to a nominal 2.2 V V
DD
for
on-chip and off-chip use. For EMC reasons a special
technique is used to minimize coil current ripples under all
load conditions.
The voltage generated by the DC/DC converter is
available at pin V
DD(DC)
. The supply for all functions of the
chip is taken from the V
DD
and V
DDA
pins. The user has to
connect V
DD(DC)
to the other V
DD
pins. The supply used for
the reference and comparators is taken from V
DDA
.
A typical circuit configuration is shown in Fig.36.
For a certain current load (I
L
) the controller settles to a
stable voltage V
DD
(I
L
) in the window 2.15 to 2.25 V.
Increasing the load decreases V
DD
(I
L
) by a small amount.
When V
DD
(I
L
) drops below 2.15 V the DC/DC converter
calculates a new set of coefficients and V

) settles
again between 2.15 and 2.25 V (see Fig.45).
