betweeninternalcomponentsthatcanaccessthebus(systemcore,PCIbridge,
CPM,andoneexternalmaster).Thisarbitercanbedisabled,andanexternal
arbitercanbeusedifnecessary.
Alocal(32-bitdata,32-bitinternaland18-bitexternaladdress)bus.Thisbusis
usedtoenhancetheoperationoftheveryhigh-speedcommunicationcontrollers.
Withoutrequiringextensivemanipulationbythecore,thebuscanbeusedtostore
connectiontablesforATMorbufferdescriptors(BDs)forthecommunication
channelsorrawdatathatistransmittedbetweenchannels.Thelocalbusis
synchronoustothe60xbusandrunsatthesamefrequency.
Thelocalbuscanbeconfiguredasa32-bitdataandupto66MHzPCI(version2.1)
bus.InPCImodethebuscanbeprogrammedasahostorasanagent.ThePCI
buscanbeconfiguredtorunsynchronouslyorasynchronouslytothe60xbus.The
PC8260hasaninternalPCIbridgewithanefficient60x-to-PCIDMAformemory
blocktransfers.
ApplicationsthatrequireboththelocalbusandPCIbusneedtoconnectanexternal
PCIbridge.
Amemorycontrollersupporting12memorybanksthatcanbeallocatedforeither
thesystemorthelocalbus.Thememorycontrollerisanenhancedversionofthe
PC8260memorycontroller.Itsupportsthreeuser-programmablemachines.
BesidessupportingallPC8260features,thememorycontrolleralsosupports
SDRAMwithpagemodeandaddressdatapipeline
SupportsJTAGcontrollerIEEE1149.1testaccessport(TAP).
Abusmonitorthatprevents60xbuslock-ups,areal-timeclock,aperiodicinterrupt
timer,andothersystemfunctionsusefulinembeddedapplications.
