Due to the stringent component height requirements of the
Pentium II processor with on-die cache mobile module,
Polymerized Organic Semiconductor capacitors must be
used as input bulk capacitance in the voltage regulator
circuit. Because of the capacitor’s susceptibility to high in-
rush current, special care must be taken. One way to soften
the in-rush current and provide overvoltage and overcurrent
protection is to ramp up V_DC slowly using a circuit similar
to the one shown in Figure 8.
