C BUS SPECIFICATION
This is the standardI
2
C protocol.
The deviceaddressis ”1101000” ; the first byte is thereforeHex D0 for a write operation and Hex D1 for a
read operation.
I.1 - Write Operation
The first byte is the device address plusthe directionbit (R/W = 0).
The secondbyte containsthe internaladdress of the first register to be accessed.
The nextbyte is written in the internal register.
The following (if any)bytes arewritten in successiveinternal registers.
The transferlasts until stopconditions areencountered.
The STV0196Backnowledges everybyte transfer.
I.2 - ReadOperation
The address of the first register to read is programmedin a write operation without data, and terminated
by stop condition.
Then anotherstart is followed bythe deviceaddress andR/W= 1; allsuccessive bytesare now data read
at successivepositions starting from the initial address.
The STV0196Backnowledges everybyte transfer.

This read only register gives the release number of the circuit in order to ensuresoftware compatibility.
