Description
The PSD211R integrates high performance user-configurable blocks of EPROM and
programmable logic. The major functions include two programmable logic arrays (PAD A
and PAD B), 256K of EPROM, input latches, and output ports. The PSD211R is ideal for
applications requiring low power and very small form factors. These include industrial
control, instruments, network hubs and routers, cellular telephones, computer peripherals
and similar applications.
The PSD211R is a cost effective single chip peripheral for 8-bit multiplexed bus
microcontrollers that need:

I/O reconstruction (microcontrollers lose at least two I/O ports when accessing
external resources.)
J
More EPROM than available in the microcontroller’s internal memory.
J
Chip-select, control, or latched address lines that are otherwise implemented discretely.
J
Expanded microcontroller address space.
WSI’s PSD211R solution provides microcontrollers with port expansion, latched addresses,
two programmable logic arrays, and 256 Kbits of EPROM on a single chip.
The PSD211R does not require any glue logic for interfacing to any 8-bit multiplexed bus
microcontroller.
The 8051 microcontroller family can take full advantage of the PSD211R’s separate
program and data address spaces. Users of the 68HC11 microcontroller family can change
the functionality of the control signals to directly connect to R/W and E.
