4.3.1 Compressed Data Interface
FIFO Operation
During compression data transfer operations,
data is transferred out of the compressed data
interface. The FIFO starts out empty and
accepts compressed data from the ALDC
encoder. When the FIFO accepts a number of
compressed data bytes equal to the Com-
pressed Data Interface FIFO Threshold
(CCNF(3:0)), it switches -CREQ active (and con-
tinues accepting compressed data). When the
external direct memory access controller
responds to the active -CREQ (by an active
-CACK), the compressed data interface enables
the +CDATA drivers and outputs the first available
byte. This byte remains on the +CDATA bus until
-CACK goes inactive. -CACK can continue in
these transitions from high to low and back to
high again, each time getting the next byte on
the +CDATA bus until -CREQ goes inactive. -CREQ
will go inactive (high) only if the FIFO is empty.
During decompression data transfer operations,
data is transferred into the compressed data
interface. The FIFO now accepts compressed
data from the external direct memory access
controller. When the FIFO becomes full during
the decompression operation, it stops
requesting more data by switching -CREQ high.
When the number of empty spaces in the FIFO
equals the Compressed Data Interface FIFO
Threshold (CCNF(3:0)), it switches -CREQ active
(low). Data is transferred (as during com-
pression) on the rising edge of -CACK. Transfer
continues until the Compressed Data Interface
Transfer Count (TCC) equals the ALDC1-5S
