PCI BUFFERS
Overview
PCI buffers are designed for PCI local bus application which is intended for high-performance 32-bit or 64-bit
bus architecture.
SEC supports PCI-X input, output and bi-directional buffers for 3.3V and 5V signalling environment.

Input, output, and bi-directional PCI-X buffers
PCI-X addendum to the PCI local bus specification compliant
Operating at up to 133MHz
Electrically compliant interface in 3.3V and 5V bus environments
Description
Since the introduction of 66MHz timing parameter of the PCI local bus specification in 1994, bandwidth
requirements of peripheral devices have steadily grown. PCI-X enable the design old systems and devices
that can operate at speeds significantly higher than today’s specification allows. Devices can be designed to
meet PCI-X requirements and operate as conventional 33MHz and 66MHz PCI devices when installed in
those systems.
These PCI-X buffers are designed for 3.3V and 5V environments and compliant with the PCI local bus
specification Rev2.2 when they are used in PCI mode. The 5V tolerant PCI mode buffers can be used for
33MHz, 5V environment. These tolerant PCI mode buffers require 5V power for bulk of PMOS driver for 5V
bus environment or 3.3V power for 3.3V environment. The PCI-X buffers support PCI mode while SEL=high,
Although tolerant PCI buffers support 5V environment, they do not drive 5V.
NOTE:
If you want to use PCI buffers, please contact Samsung.

NOTES:

2.
PCI-X mode condition: SEL = low
3.3V signalling PCI mode condition: SEL = high, VIO = 3.3V (In this case 5V tolerant is not supported)
5.0V signalling PCI mode condition: SEL = high, VIO = 5.0V
In 3.3V signalling, the voltage of VIO is 3.3V, which is provided through the VDD5O_PCI power cell
In 5.0V signalling, the voltage of VIO is 3.3V, which is provided through the VDD5O_PCI power cell
