WSI supplies PSD users with easy to use software tools and programming devices. PSDsoft
development software, which is PC Windows based, enables designers to configure the
PSD3XX. Some of the computer screen configuration displays for this design example are
shown in Figure 4. Figure 4A shows the Address/Data Bus and Port A/B configuration
choices that were selected. Figure 4B is a listing of the PSDabel source file which contains
the address map equations for the EPROM, SRAM and I/O Port. Also in this file are any
alias names assigned to pins (in this example – inst, read_, bwidth_) and the chip select
equation for the “ready” signal. Figure 4C is a display of the Address Translation Menu which
shows the EPROM decode equations as described in the PSDabel file, along with the start
and stop addresses of the file where the program code resides. Figure 4D is a listing of the
Fitter Report Output file which is generated when the design is compiled. This file contains a
summary of all of the parameters that were chosen during the design such as alias names,
pin assignments, address decode and chip select equations and I/O port usage.
