CHAPTER 8 16-BIT TIMER/EVENT COUNTER
8.1 Outline of Timers in
μ
PD78018F, 78018FY Subseries
This chapter explains the 16-bit timer/event counter. For reference, an outline of the timers provided in the
μ
PD78018F, 78018FY subseries is shown below.
(1) 16-bit timer/event counter (TM0)
This timer can be used as an interval timer, for PWM output, for pulse width measurement (infrared remote
controller signal reception function), as an external event counter, and for output of square waves of any
frequency.
(2) 8-bit timer/event counters (TM1 and TM2)
These counters can be used as interval timers, external event counters, and for output of square waves of
any frequency. Moreover, the two 8-bit timer/event counters can be used in combination as a 16-bit time/event
counter (refer to
CHAPTER 9 8-BIT TIMER/EVENT COUNTER
).
(3) Watch timer (TM3)
This timer can be used to set a flag every 0.5 second or to generate an interrupt request at any time intervals
set in advance at the same time. (refer to
CHAPTER 10 WATCH TIMER
).
(4) Watchdog timer (WDTM)
The watchdog timer can also be used to generate a non-maskable interrupt request, maskable interrupt
request, or RESET signal at any time intervals set in advance (refer to
CHAPTER 11 WATCHDOG TIMER
).
(5) Clock output control circuit
This circuit supplies a clock obtained by dividing the main system clock, and the subsystem clock to other
devices (refer to
CHAPTER 12 CLOCK OUTPUT CONTROL CIRCUIT
).
(6) Buzzer output control circuit
This circuit outputs a buzzer frequency that is obtained by dividing the main system clock (refer to
CHAPTER
13 BUZZER OUTPUT CONTROL CIRCUIT
).
