Since each of the horizontal ‘halves’ of the frame is only 142 lines (CCIR) or 120 lines (EIA), there
is a ‘black band’ of three lines separating the top half from the bottom half. Similarly, for timing
purposes, there is a two pixel vertical black band separating the left and right halves of the frame.

Multiplexing four cameras
Using the quarter mode of operation, it is possible, therefore, to combine the outputs of four sepa-
rate VV5430 cameras (with appropriate control logic) and display four half resolution images on
one monitor:
Note:
One VV5430 camera would normally be used as ‘master’, and provide the Sync-plus-Q1 out-
put for the monitor or other video device. A synch. signal, at frame frequency, is required via
SIN (pin 17) to keep the four cameras in step. This signal can be derived from the master cam-
era FST output (with ‘SNO Enable’ set via Setup Code_3 bit 6), or be generated externally.
