Fibre Channel Protocol Controller
The LSI Logic SYMFC909 at a Glance
The SYMFC909 is a high-performance, cost-effective PCI to Fibre Channel
protocol controller for today’s Fibre Channel market. The SYMFC909 supports
server, RAID and workstation environments with a high performance 64-bit/66
MHz PCI host interface. The SYMFC909 supports the Fibre Channel serial link
with an integrated 1 Gbaud transceiver or with an optional external transceiver.
The SYMFC909 features LSI Logic’s SAN architected design and message transport
architecture. The SAN architected design provides optimal performance in
Fibre Channel switched networked topologies and conventional arbitrated loop
designs. As the industry moves forward, LSI’s SAN architecture provides easy
migration into future serial based I/O technologies.

Hardware Overview
In today’s fast growing server, RAID and workstation marketplaces, higher levels
of performance, scalability and reliability are required to stay competitive in the
SAN market. To meet these total market demands, LSI Logic is introducing the
SAN architected SYMFC909 to its family of Fibre Channel protocol controllers.
Today’s SYMFC909 provides the performance and flexibility to meet tomorrow’s
Fibre Channel connectivity requirements.
