Using the Differential Communications Channels - A and B
In order to use channels A and B on the PC-COM4 they must be configured appropriately:
Address and Interrupt Selection
The I/O address of channels A and B must first be configured, together with the interrupt line
for each channel. You will need to refer to the documentation on your CPU card to establish
spare I/O and interrupt channels to use.
Then refer to the I/O Map, Interrupts and Links section of this manual to configure the
appropriate links.
Communications Mode
The PC-COM4 supports both RS422 and RS485 type differential communications modes. In
the RS422 mode of operation, this can function as either point to point or multidrop. The
differences between each of the configurations is illustrated below:
