In fast decay mode, when the coil current crosses the zero level
When the current is being attenuated in fast decay mode, if the coil current crosses zero, the current will start to flow in
the reverse rotation direction. To prevent this, the circuit detects when the coil current crosses the zero level and turns
off the output.
The output is turned on again in the next chopping period.

The figure above shows the current directions during clockwise rotation. Note that the dotted lines indicate the
existence of parasitic diodes.
