4. Smear
1. Place the 1/10-V chart described below in front of the halogen light source and image it.
2. Using neutral density filters, adjust the incident illumination such that the CCD output signal at point A
becomes 250 mV.
3. Remove the neutral density filters and measure the value of the CCD output signal for the first line (i.e. at point B).

5. Dark signal
Block all light to the surface of the CCD element, and measure the CCD output signal at the center of the screen. For this
measurement, do not measure the difference between the signal level and the optical black area level, but rather, read out
the difference with respect to the no-signal level at a point where there is no pixel information. (See the figure.)

6. Color irregularity (mura)
Image a CCV31F pattern box (manufactured by Dai Nippon Printing Co. Ltd., with an intensity of 1500 NT and a
color temperature of 5100 °K) with no pattern. Use the Sanyo LC9997-LE01 lens and install a C-500 IR-cut filter.
Adjust the exposure with ND filters so that the CCD average output at this time is 500 mV. Measure the chrominance
level and the chrominance phase under these conditions at 16 points on the screen. (See figure 3.) Calculate the color
irregularity (mura) Vcs (mV) from these chrominance level and the chrominance phase values.
