The μPD98404 implements the Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) Transmission Convergence (TC)
sublayer function. The μPD98404 maps 53-byte ATM cells asynchronously into a synchronous
SONET/SDH payload, extracts ATM cells from a synchronous payload envelope, and provides ATM
cells to the ATM layer.
