The offset DACs of XRD9815 are used to compensate for internal system offsets as well as
any external system offset, for example, the dark voltage of CCD signal. The equation below
can calculate how much external offset can be cancelled out in both negative and position
directions.
Vosext = |Vmax – Vosint| / Gain
Vosext = External offset (eg. dark voltage or dark current of CCD output) input referred
Vosint = Internal system offset (see Figure 2)
Vmax
= Maximum positive or negative voltage the offset DAC can generate
For example, at gain of 10V/V, if the internal system offset is –250mV, the maximum dark
voltage of CCD can be correct is:
Vosext = (300-250)/10 = 5mV
The following graphs show the Vosext range over gain.
