performancelow-powerimplementationofthePowerPCfamilyofreducedinstruction
setcomputer(RISC)microprocessors.TheEC603ecoreimplementsthe32-bitportion
ofthePowerPCarchitecture,whichprovides32-biteffectiveaddresses,integerdata
typesof8,16and32bits.TheEC603ecacheprovidessnoopingtoensuredatacoher-
encywithothermasters.ThishelpsensurecoherencybetweentheCPMandsystem
core.
Thecoreincludes16Kbytesofinstructioncacheand16Kbytesofdatacache.Ithasa
64-bitsplit-transactionexternaldatabuswhichisconnecteddirectlytotheexternal
PC8260pins.
TheEC603ecorehasaninternalcommonon-chip(COP)debugprocessor.Thispro-
cessorallowsaccesstointernalscanchainsfordebuggingpurposes.Itisalsousedas
aserialconnectiontothecoreforemulatorsupport.
TheEC603ecoreperformancefortheSPEC95benchmarkforintegeroperations
rangesbetween4.4and5.1at200MHz.InDhrystone2.1MIPS,theEC603eis280
