Thermal Considerations (continued)
The monitor temperature referenced in the specifica-
tion, Tref, is taken as the temperature of CR1 or 15°C
above the temperature of IC1, whichever is greater.
Depending upon load conditions the maximum opera-
tional temperature should not exceed 100°C for IC1 or
115°C for CR1. Proper cooling can be verified by mea-
suring the power module’s temperature on the cases of
CR1 and IC1 as shown in Figures 14—16. The output
power of the module should not exceed the rated
power.
The thermal data presented is based on measure-
ments taken in a wind tunnel. The test setup shown in
Figure 13 was used to collect data for Figures 17—19.
Note that the orientation of the module with respect to
airflow affects thermal performance. Two orientations
are shown in Figures 14—15.
