is the gain code of 0 to 7. The gaincode parameter is ignored when channel is ALLCHAN.
RETURN VALUE
0 if successful
-1 if address is invalid or out of range.
-2 if there is no valid ID block.
-3 if there is an error writing to flash memory.

outputs in these bit positions:
